Cloud sync & privacy

Stateless by default — optional encrypted memory that only you can read

Stateless by default

TorlyAI Desktop stays 100% local. This connector is stateless by default — it only remembers your project across sessions if you turn on encrypted cloud sync. Your data is encrypted before it's stored and only you can read it.

With cloud sync off (the default), the connector keeps nothing between conversations. Each session starts fresh; nothing about your project is written to TorlyAI's servers. The connector still works fully — you just re-supply context when you start a new conversation.

What cloud sync stores (when you turn it on)

Cloud sync is an opt-in convenience so you can pick up where you left off in a new Claude conversation. When enabled, it stores your project working state:

  • Your idea and its description
  • Your 4F Innovation Matrix scores and verdict
  • Business-plan drafts and section progress
  • Your chosen endorsement body

It does not store your Claude conversation transcripts — only the structured project state the tools produce.

How it's protected

AES-256 encryption

Your project state is encrypted with AES-256 using per-user keys before it is stored. Only you can read it.

Row-level security

Stored state is isolated per account under database row-level security, so no other user can ever access it.

Turning cloud sync off

You can switch cloud sync off at any time from torly.ai/install or Dashboard → Connectors. Turning it off stops new state from being written; the connector reverts to stateless behaviour.

Deleting your stored state (right to erasure)

Under UK GDPR you have the right to erasure. You can delete all stored project state from the connector settings — once deleted, it is permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Deleting stored state does not cancel your subscription; manage billing separately on the Billing page.

A note on TorlyAI Desktop

The connector and TorlyAI Desktop are separate products. TorlyAI Desktop is local-only — your data stays on your machine with AES-256 local storage and is never sent to a server. The connector's optional cloud sync is a separate, opt-in feature and does not change how the desktop app handles your data.
