Kanban Board

Visual task management with four columns

What It Does

The board displays all your tasks as cards arranged in columns. As work progresses, you move cards from left to right — from "To Do" through to "Done". Each column shows a count of its tasks, and cards display key information at a glance: title, priority, assigned team member, and tags.

The Four Columns

☐ To Do

Tasks waiting to be started. New tasks land here by default.

⚡ Working

Tasks currently in progress. Active work happens here.

👁️ Review

Tasks ready for review or approval before completion.

✓ Done

Completed tasks. Can be reopened if needed.

Each column header shows the number of tasks it contains.

How to Use It

Moving Tasks

Drag and drop is the quickest way to move tasks:

  1. 1
Click and hold a task card
  2. 2
    Drag to the target column
  3. 3
Drop at the desired position within the column

You can also change a task's status from the Task Detail Panel by clicking the status buttons at the bottom.

Transition Rules

Tasks follow logical progression rules. Not every move is allowed:

FromAllowed Moves
To DoWorking
WorkingTo Do, Review, Done
ReviewWorking, Done
DoneWorking, Review (to reopen)

A task cannot jump directly from "To Do" to "Done" or "Review" — it must be worked on first. This ensures every task goes through at least one active stage before completion.

Phase Filtering

Above the board, phase filter tabs let you focus on specific stages of your business plan:

🔍 Explore

Vision, strategy, brainstorming

✅ Define

Visa criteria, evidence gathering

📐 Model

Financial projections, business models

✍️ Draft

Writing business plan sections

🎤 Present

Quality review, interview prep

Click a phase tab to show only tasks belonging to that phase. Click "All" to return to the full view.

Team Member Filtering

The Team Bar sits between the header and the board. It shows avatars for team members who have assigned tasks. Click an avatar to filter the board to only that member's tasks. Click again (or click the ✕ Clear button) to remove the filter.

Empty State

When you first open the Project Workspace with no tasks, the board shows an empty state with two options:

Create a Task

Opens the task creation dialog so you can start building your project from scratch.

Load Demo Data

Populates the board with 15 realistic sample tasks across all phases, so you can explore before adding your own.

Tips

  • Review your board daily — check the Working column for stalled tasks, and the Review column for items ready to complete
  • Use phase filters when you want to focus — for example, filter to "Draft" when it is time to write your business plan sections
  • Combine filters — use team member filtering together with phase filtering to see, for example, only Hermione's tasks in the Model phase
  • Keep columns balanced — if too many tasks pile up in "To Do", consider prioritising or breaking them into smaller pieces
