The STAR-Q Method
Situation + Task + Action + Result + Quantify
Each component is extracted from relevant business plan sections using keyword matching.
S — Situation
Context from market analysis or problem statement. Keywords: problem, challenge, gap, need, market.
T — Task
What needed to be done. Keywords: objective, goal, aim, build, create, develop.
A — Action
Specific steps taken or planned. Keywords: implement, launch, partner, hire, strategy.
R — Result
Outcomes or projected outcomes. Keywords: result, achieve, growth, revenue, traction.
Q — Quantify
Specific numbers, metrics, and evidence. Looks for sentences with percentages, revenue figures, user counts, market sizes, and financial data.

Readiness Assessment
After generating templates, the coach assesses your interview readiness:
- A category is strong if at least 2 questions have STAR-Q templates populated with real BP content
- A category is weak if fewer than 2 questions have populated templates
- Overall score is the percentage of questions with populated templates (at least 3 of 5 STAR-Q components filled)
Skill Chain
When your readiness score exceeds 70%, the coach recommends @pitch-deck-builder to prepare your presentation.
Tips
- Complete your BP first — STAR-Q templates are only as good as the content they draw from
- Review weak categories — these highlight which BP sections need strengthening
- Practise the talking points — the 3-5 key points per question give you a concise rehearsal framework
- Watch target durations — each question has a recommended answer length (60-120 seconds)
- Always quantify — the Q in STAR-Q is what separates strong answers from generic ones
